This Privacy Policy explains how Tech Shivansh ("we", "us") handles your information in the ExpenseSnap AI mobile application (the "App"). By using the App you agree to this policy.

1. No account required

ExpenseSnap AI does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide your name, email, or phone number to use the App. The App identifies your device using a randomly generated identifier stored securely in the iOS Keychain. This identifier is not linked to your real-world identity.

2. Information we collect

Information you provide

• Transaction data you enter or confirm (amounts, titles, dates, categories, notes, budgets).
• Images and documents you scan — receipts, payment screenshots, and bank statements you choose to import — which are sent to our server for AI processing (see Section 4).
• Split-expense information — if you use shared groups, the group name, member names you enter, and shared expense details are sent to our server so the group can sync across participants.

Information collected automatically

• Device identifier — the Keychain-stored random ID, used to enforce daily scan limits and manage your subscription status.
• Advertising identifier (IDFA) — only if you grant permission via the App Tracking Transparency prompt (see Section 6).
• Purchase information — managed by our payments provider (RevenueCat / Apple) to determine whether you have an active premium subscription.
• Diagnostic/technical data that advertising and service SDKs collect to function (e.g., approximate region, device type, ad interactions).

3. How we use your information

• To extract transaction details from your scanned images using AI.
• To store and display your transactions, budgets, and reports (stored locally on your device).
• To enforce free-tier scan limits and grant bonus scans.
• To provide and verify premium subscriptions.
• To display and measure advertisements (free tier only).
• To sync shared split-expense groups, if you use that feature.
• To load remote app configuration (such as feature toggles).

4. AI processing of your images

When you scan a receipt or screenshot, or import a statement, the image or document is transmitted over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to our backend server, which uses Google's Gemini AI to extract the transaction details. The extracted text is returned to your device for you to review and save. The resulting transactions are stored locally on your device. Images are processed to provide this feature and are not used to build a profile of you or sold to anyone.

5. Where your data is stored

Your transactions, budgets, categories, and settings are stored on your device using Apple's on-device database (SwiftData). They are not uploaded to our servers except for the transient AI processing described above and split-group syncing, if used. Deleting the App, or using Settings → Clear All Data, removes this data from your device.

6. Advertising & tracking

Free-tier users see ads served by Google AdMob. Premium subscribers see no ads.

• We ask for your permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt before any tracking identifier (IDFA) is used. If you decline, you will still see ads, but they will be non-personalized.
• In the EEA/UK we present a Google consent (UMP) form to gather the choices required under GDPR.
• We use Apple's SKAdNetwork for privacy-preserving ad attribution.
• You can change your tracking choice anytime in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

7. Third-party services

The App relies on the following providers, each with their own privacy policy:

• Google AdMob (advertising) — policies.google.com/privacy
• Google Gemini / Generative AI (receipt extraction) — policies.google.com/privacy
• Firebase (remote app configuration) — firebase.google.com/support/privacy
• RevenueCat (subscription management) — revenuecat.com/privacy
• Apple (App Store, in-app purchases) — apple.com/legal/privacy

8. Data sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers above, solely so they can perform their function (AI processing, ads, payments, configuration).

9. Data retention

App content lives on your device until you delete it. Images sent for AI processing are used to fulfill the request and are not retained to profile you. Subscription and device-limit records are retained as needed to operate those features.

10. Your rights & choices

• Delete all your data anytime via Settings → Clear All Data or by deleting the App.
• Control tracking via the ATT prompt and iOS Settings.
• Manage or cancel your subscription in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
• Depending on your region (e.g., GDPR/CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, or erase data we process. Contact us using the details below.

11. Children's privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country) and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

12. Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections, and the device identifier is stored in the iOS Keychain. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
